HC Deb 30 July 1942 vol 382 cc709-10W
Mr. Leach

asked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been drawn to the experiments on rabbits conducted at the Department for Research and Experiments at Oxford for studying the effects of blast; what useful purpose has been served by the experiments; and is he satisfied that they come within the legal powers of those conducting them?

Mr. H. Morrison

I am advised that there is no doubt as to the value of these experiments in enlarging knowledge of methods of safeguarding human life. They are conducted in accordance with the statutory provisions which authorise the granting of licences to perform experiments for the advancement of knowledge useful for saving life.
