HC Deb 30 July 1942 vol 382 c709W
Mr. Ivor Thomas

asked the Home Secretary whether he is now prepared to look into the case of any French or Danish national whose application for exemption from restrictions is refused by the police?

Mr. H. Morrison

I am glad of the opportunity of clearing up this point which arises out of the answers which I gave to Supplementary Questions on 16th July. Each of these applications by French and Danish nationals for exemption will be considered in the Home Office and the decision will be the decision of the Secretary of State. I shall, however, wish to have a police report upon each application and accordingly it will save time and correspondence if the applications are sent not to me but to the local police who will transmit them to me with their report.
