HC Deb 29 July 1942 vol 382 c527W
Sir J. Wardlaw-Milne

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what is the total staff so far engaged in connection with the rationing of fuel; and what is the cost of the same?

Major Lloyd George

Six persons are engaged either wholly, or partly in conjunction with other work at headquarters, on the administrative preparations for the action which will be necessary if rationing is introduced: the cost is at the rate of approximately £3,000 per annum. Temporary staff has been engaged locally to deal with the household fuel assessment forms; the immediate purpose of that work however, is not rationing but the provision, for the purposes of distribution of solid fuel, of estimates of the requirements of consumers and their merchants.
