HC Deb 23 July 1942 vol 382 c192W
Mr. Perkins

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether a smallholder or cottage gardener who has less than 25 hens can grow potatoes and other crops suitable for human consumption for the sole purpose of feeding his chickens?

Mr. Mabane

The use of certain crops, including wheat and potatoes, for feeding to livestock is subject to restrictions particulars of which I will give to my hon. Friend. Other crops, however, are not subject to these restrictions and there is nothing in any Orders of my Department to prevent a poultry keeper, if he has facilities, from growing such crops for feeding to his poultry.
