§ Sir E. Graham-Littleasked the Secretary of State for War whether he will investigate the case of a graduate of London University, details of which have been submitted to him, with long administrative experience now serving as a private soldier, a gunner, who was recommended by the Recruiting Board of London University for a commission in January last and who has repeatedly applied for a transfer or a commission as technical administrative officer, but who remains in a position in which his specal qualifications are wasted?
§ Sir J. GriggUniversity graduates who are recommended for commissions by Joint Recruiting Boards prior to their call-up are required to show during their period of service in the ranks that they possess the qualities required of a commissioned officer before acceptance for cadet training. In accordance with this procedure the graduate referred to was interviewed by his Unit Selection Board and although in possession of administrative abilities was found to be lacking in power of command and leadership. He has therefore, not yet been accepted as suitable for training as a' potential officer but his progress as a leader is being carefully watched.
