HC Deb 06 August 1942 vol 382 c1204W
Sir E. Graham-Little

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food what proportion of the flour controlled by the Ministry, from which extraction of the wheat germ has been effected, is authorised by Confidential Instructions 206 and 212, to be used for the manufacture of biscuits and for other purposes, excluding bread?

Mr. Mabane

The percentage of flour from which a proportion of the germ had been extracted sold for manufacturing purposes during the fortnight ending nth July last represented approximately 4 per cent. of the total flour sold in that period. I hope this is the information which my hon. Friend requires. No flour from which a proportion of the germ has been extracted is sold for any other than manufacturing purposes.
