Griffithsasked the Secretary of State for War whether special attention is being given to the spread of venereal disease amongst the troops; whether the necessary lectures are being given regularly; whether precautionary facilities are available in all camps and barracks; whether full advantage will be taken of the services given by the Central Council for Health Education, and an issue made to each member of the Forces of their literature on this subject; and whether he can give any assurance regarding the standard of health of the women's services from this point of view?
§ Sir J. GriggThe answer to the first three parts of the Question is, "Yes." With regard to the fourth, I understand that the propaganda activities of the British Social Hygiene Council in this country have recently been taken over by the Central Council for Health Education, and I will discuss this question with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Health. With regard to the last part of the Question I am glad to be able to assure my hon. Friend that the incidence of venereal disease in the Auxiliary Territorial Service is very low indeed.
