§ Mr. Ness Edwardsasked the Secretary for Mines whether he is aware that the Powell Duffryn Coal Company, Limited, refuses to recognise the South Wales and Monmouthshire Colliery Examiners' Association, and make it a condition of employment that these men shall not become, and remain, members of a bona-fide trade union; and whether he will use the good offices of his Department to prevent this dispute from developing into a stoppage of work?
§ Mr. GrenfellI am aware that there has been discussion in South Wales on this subject, but any understanding of the matter is not quite as indicated by the hon. Member. My Department is always prepared to use its good offices with a view to settlement of difficulties of this kind.
