HC Deb 09 April 1941 vol 370 cc1576-7W
Mr. Stokes

asked the Secretary of State for War for what reason the report on the construction of the camps at Cove which cost approximately £400 per militiaman compared with £160 per head of persons housed in permanent buildings by the London County Council at the White City, is not being made available to Members of this House?

Mr. Law

The figures of cost of the camp at Cove were in front of the Select Committee before they published their report on the militia camps, and a further analysis of those figures is ready for them if they require it. In these circumstances my right hon. and gallant Friend does not think that any useful purpose would be served by publishing the analysed figures, but, as he has already stated, he is fully prepared to answer any questions on this subject.
