HC Deb 04 July 1940 vol 362 cc1024-5W
Mr. Rostron Duckworth

asked the Secretary of State for Air what designations are being used in connection with the large subscriptions of overseas Britons for the purchase of aeroplanes to indicate the particular aeroplanes they have provided, with the object of giving such subscribers direct personal interest in the achievements of the machines?

Captain Balfour

My hon. Friend may be assured that we are aware of the importance of demonstrating, by every means in our power, our appreciation of these heartening tokens of loyalty to the Empire in this hour of its history. Instances of such generosity are many and continuous, and although it is difficult to lay down a hard and fast rule we en- deavour, where possible, to associate particular squadrons of aircraft with the names of the donors.
