HC Deb 02 March 1939 vol 344 c1493W
Mr. Parker

asked the Secretary of State for War whether his Department is finally committed to the purchase of 6,000 acres of good farmland on the south coast of Pembrokeshire for a tank range; and what alternative sites have been considered?

Sir V. Warrender

Negotiations for the purchase of this area have not yet been completed. The area required is approximately 4,000acres, excluding much of the best agricultural land. No villages are included within the area required. The whole of the United Kingdom has come under review, and 25 separate sites in 14 different counties were considered.
