HC Deb 02 March 1939 vol 344 cc1493-4W
Viscountess Astor

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will consider extending the camping season for the Territorial Army to include the months of May, June and September, as this would greatly facilitate recruiting in the seaside resorts where employers cannot possibly give leave of absence in July and August?

Sir V. Warrender

The camping season for the Territorial Army in 1939 will extend from early May until late September. Camping dates for units are arranged to suit the majority in the unit, with due regard to trade holidays, the convenience of employers, and the availability of camping sites.
