HC Deb 04 July 1939 vol 349 cc1128-9W
Mr. Crawford Greene

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that the Territorial light tank regiments are not only unequipped with tanks but are going to camp for their annual training with inadequate supply of Morris trucks issued as token vehicles to represent tanks; that the recently formed second regiments have been issued with no vehicles of any description with which to train before attending camp; and what is being done to remedy these deficiencies?

Sir V. Warrender

All the original light tank units of the Territorial Army have received a preliminary issue of light tanks and also of vehicles of various types including Morris trucks to assist in training. Some of the equipment has been made available for use by duplicate units. Arrangements have been made for original and duplicate units to share equipment at camp. Authority has also been given to units to hire additional vehicles for camp. Production is proceeding at an increasing rate.
