HC Deb 09 February 1939 vol 343 c1148W
Lieut.-Commander Fletcher

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether his attention has been called to the shortage of skilled aeronautical engineers in the British aircraft industry; and what steps are being taken to meet this?

Sir K. Wood

I am aware that the rapid expansion of the aircraft industry has entailed a shortage of these skilled men as compared with the large numbers required. In order to meet the deficiency men are being trained as rapidly as possible at the various contractors' works as well as at the Ministry of Labour Training Centres.
