HC Deb 14 December 1939 vol 355 c1299W
Mr. Pethick-Lawrence

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what was the price of oats on 1st August this year and on 1st December; and whether he proposes to take any steps to check the rise in price of this important foodstuff?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

The average price of home-grown oats in England and Wales was 5s. 11d. per cwt. for the week ended 5th August, and l0s. 9d. per cwt. for the week ended 2nd December. I have now under consideration proposals for introducing control of the price of homegrown oats as soon as practicable.
