HC Deb 18 April 1939 vol 346 c200W
Mr. Parker

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Burma whether he has any report to make on the Burma-Yunnan road; its condition and its availability for general traffic and heavy transport; its supply of petrol stations; and whether any protection against aircraft has been made?

Lieut.-Colonel Muirhead

The Burma section of this road is now open to all vehicles not exceeding five tons gross weight. It is anticipated that improvements now being made will keep it open for this traffic during the rains. An adequate supply of petrol is available at Lashio and at three other points between there and the frontier. No special protection against aircraft exists on the Burma section of the road.
