HC Deb 09 May 1938 vol 335 c1249W
Mr. D. Somerville

asked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been called to the statement by the Recorder of London that the Marble Arch is a sort of clearing-house for blackmailers; and whether the police are taking any special supervisory action?

Sir S. Hoare:

I have seen Press reports attributing this statement to the Recorder. The neighbourhood of the Marble Arch is constantly under supervision by the police, who are well aware of their duties in relation to offences of the kind mentioned.
