§ Mr. Lyonsasked the Minister of Transport (1) which local authorities have agreed with him for the illumination, or better illumination, of trunk roads at the joint cost of the Ministry and the authority concerned; and in how many cases the cost of maintenance is to be jointly borne;
(2) whether he will indicate where, and to what extent, illumination of main roads has been undertaken under the provisions of Section 6 (4) of the Trunk Roads Act, 1936?
§ Mr. Burgin:I informed lighting authorities that in certain circumstances I should be prepared, after 1st April last, to enter into agreements with them whereby I should contribute towards the cost of new or improved lighting on trunk roads. Several proposals have been put before me, but it has not yet been possible to complete the detailed technical examination of them which is necessary before I can enter into agreements.
