HC Deb 04 May 1938 vol 335 cc884-5W
Mr. R. Duckworth

asked the Minister of Transport what towns and villages in England and Wales, respectively, are now actually being by-passed by roads under construction or contemplated?

Mr. Burgin

The information required would be very extensive, is not readily available, and considerable labour and expense would be involved in obtaining it. I shall, of course, be happy to give my hon. Friend information regarding any particular towns or villages he may have in mind.

Mr. D. Somerville

asked the Minister of Transport whether he can give details of any objections from towns which it is proposed to by-pass?

Mr. Burgin:

I assume my hon. Friend's question relates to formal objections received from the local authorities of places on Trunk Roads proposed to be bypassed. Up to 30th April 1 have made 34 Orders under Section 1 (3) of the Trunk Roads Act, 1936, in respect of which I have received two objections of this description. If my hon. Friend has any particular place in mind, I shall be happy to give him any additional information in my possession.
