HC Deb 09 February 1938 vol 331 cc1069-70W
Mr. Davidson

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether he will state the number of Royal Air Force units now established in Scotland for the defence of important docks, works and towns of national importance?

Lieut.-Colonel Muirhead

The provision of squadrons for the defence of urban areas in all parts of the United Kingdom is not based upon local allotments for the protection of specific areas but on plans designed to permit the deployment of large forces which can be adjusted at short notice in accordance with the requirements of the situation. The hon. Member will appreciate that it would not be in the public interest to give further details.
