HC Deb 09 February 1938 vol 331 c1069W
Sir N. Grattan-Doyle

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether it was with the knowledge and approval of the Secretary of State that Sir Charles Bruce Gardner was appointed chairman of the Society of British Aircraft Constructors; and whether he will state what are the relations between the officials of the Air Ministry and the society?

Lieut.-Colonel Muirhead

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As regards the second part the relations are in general those that normally exist between a trade association and a Government Department that has contractual dealings with members of the association. They are, of course, of a particularly close nature at the present time in view of the requirements of the expansion programme.
