HC Deb 03 November 1937 vol 328 c935W
Mr. Hepworth

asked the Minister of Transport whether, when the survey of the trunk roads is complete, he will take steps to draw up a scheme for their complete reorganisation, including motor roads of a standard equal to that of the German Autobahn; and whether he will arrange that the plans for this reorganisation are ready to be put into immediate operation as soon as the present re-armament programme is completed?

Mr. Burgin

I propose to press on with the improvement and modernisation of the trunk roads as expeditiously as circumstances and funds permit. With regard to the question of the additional provision of motor roads of the type now being constructed in Germany, I have already expressed my readiness to hear the representations of the delegation which recently visited that country.
