HC Deb 03 November 1937 vol 328 c938W
Captain Plugge

asked the Minister of Transport, who held the inquiry into the proposed Maidstone by-pass scheme; what consulting engineer acted as technical adviser to this person; what firm of consulting engineers was responsible for the drawing up of the by-pass scheme in question; and to which firm it is proposed to entrust the supervision of the scheme if it is proceeded with?

Mr. Burgin

The inquiry was held by Mr. H. Martyn Hooke, Barrister-at-law, who was not accompanied by a technical adviser; the scheme was prepared by the officers of the Kent County Council in consultation with my officers. As at present advised, I do not think it will be necessary to engage consulting engineers. in this case.
