HC Deb 03 November 1937 vol 328 c938W
Lieut.-Commander Tufnell

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware of the growing uneasiness among motorists at the danger of insufficiently lighted lorries at night; whether he will consider issuing regulations that lorries should carry two red lights with reflectors of at least six inches in diameter; and whether in any case he will experiment with such improved lighting?

Mr. Burgin

I am aware that a certain number of bad accidents can be attributed to collisions with stationary vehicles at night but I have no power under the existing law to issue the regulations suggested by my hon. and gallant Friend.
