§ Mr. Hopkinasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can make any statement on the work of the British Military Mission to the Egyptian Army?
1801W
§ Viscount CranborneThe hon. Member will see from paragraph 2 of Nahas Pasha's note No. 3 of 26th August last, the text of which will be found on page 19 of Command Paper 5270, that the British Military Mission has been furnished by His Majesty's Government as a result of the Egyptian Government's desire to perfect the training of the Egyptian Army and Air Force. The Head of the Mission arrived in Egypt with a nucleus staff in the middle of January. I understand that he has established excellent relations with the Egyptian Government, with whom he is no doubt discussing the final composition of the Mission and the measures to be taken for giving effect to the wishes of that Government with regard to the training of the Egyptian Army and Air Force.
