HC Deb 04 May 1936 vol 311 cc1354-5W
Mr. STOREY

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that on 1st April, 1936, 44 vessels of 133,924 gross registered tons were being built in German shipyards for British firms; and whether he is now able to make proposals for preventing British firms with frozen credits in Germany utilising them in such ways to the detriment of British shipyards and British shipowners?

Dr. BURGIN

I have no official information regarding the number of vessels now building in Germany for British firms. With regard to the second part of the question, I have nothing to add to the reply which my right hon. Friend gave to my hon. Friend on the 18th February.
