HC Deb 04 March 1931 vol 249 cc411-2W
Mr. WINTERTON

asked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been called to the dangerous character of the railway bridge over Smisby Road, Ashby-de-la-Zouch; and whether the Ministry is prepared to make the same proportionate grant to the cost of its removal as in the case of toll bridges?

Mr. HERBERT MORRISON

The condition of the railway bridge over Smisby Road, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, and the possibility of effecting some improvement, have been discussed with the county council. In the event of the council deciding to promote an improvement scheme, I shall be prepared to consider it for a grant from the Road Fund, but until I know what form the scheme will take, I am unable to intimate the measure of assistance which might be available.
