§ Mr. REMERasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury in view of the fact that a letter was written by the Royal Mint on 29th December, 1930, asking firms manufacturing coins to furnish a list of any coinages which were struck by these firms during 1930, and that the Royal Mint are competing for orders with these private firms, if he will take steps in future to prevent any repetition of such action on the part of the Royal Mint?
§ Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCEThe information obtained in reply to these letters, which are sent out annually, is required (as the letters clearly state) for inclusion in the annual reports of the Mint, an appendix to which shows the coins struck each year and the name of the firm striking them. If any of the firms to whom the letters are addressed object to receiving what I should have 1975W supposed to be valuable publicity in the form of a world-wide advertisement of their activities, they are under no compulsion to supply the information.
