HC Deb 24 February 1931 vol 248 cc1973-4W
Mr. LAMBERT

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the total expenditure for the years ended 31st March, 1914, 1925, 1929 and 1930 upon a comparable basis?

Mr. P. SNOWDEN

There are so many complications in comparing pre-War with post-War Budgets that the following table must be taken as only approximately accurate. So far as practicable all expenditure on Irish Services, whether concerned with the Free State or Northern Ireland, has been excluded throughout.

and such action is taken as is deemed necessary for the protection of the Revenue. It would not be in the public interest to give particulars of such cases.
