HC Deb 05 February 1931 vol 247 cc2126-8W
Mr. AYLES

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs the annual expenditure by Germany on her army and navy, respectively, for each of the years 1920 to 1930?

Mr. A. HENDERSON

The annual appropriations for the army and the navy in the German Budgets for the years 1920 to 1930, and, when known, the figures for annual expenditure, are shown below. It is difficult to estimate the sterling equivalent of the figures for 1920 to 1923 owing to the great fluctuations in the value of the mark during that period, particularly in 1922 and 1923, when these fluctuations were exceptionally wide.

Year 1920. 1921. 1922. 1923. 1924. 1925. 1926. 1927. 1928. 1929. 1930.
