HC Deb 05 February 1931 vol 247 c2126W
Sir F. NELSON

asked the Home Secretary what action, if any, he proposes to take in regard to the sale in this country of tickets in the Royal Calcutta Turf Club's Derby sweepstake; and, in particular, whether he intends to take steps to prevent banks and other institutions, which have been in the habit of procuring tickets in this sweepstake for their clients, from continuing to do so?

Mr. CLYNES

I have no information that there is any actual sale of tickets in this country. If facts indicating such sale or other illegal transactions were brought to my notice, they would be communicated to the police, whose duty it is to deal with breaches of the law.
