HC Deb 02 February 1931 vol 247 c1444W
Mr. D. G. SOMERVILLE

asked the Postmaster-General if his attention has been drawn to the inconvenience that will result from the division of the London Telephone Directory into two halves and the issue of each half at different periods of the year; and whether he will consider the possibility of issuing both halves at the same time?

Mr. LEES-SMITH

Owing to the size of the directory, division into two parts has become unavoidable. I have no reason to suppose that the issue of the two parts at different times will result in any appreciable inconvenience, while it offers substantial advantages, such as economies in printing, a reduction in the time between the closing date for new entries and the date of publication, and earlier delivery.
