HC Deb 02 February 1931 vol 247 c1444W
Brigadier-General CLIFTON BROWN

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that letters sent off in India by air post on 6th December were delivered on 20th December and another despatched on 19th December was delivered on 2nd January; and whether, as 14 or 15 days is the average delivery between England and India, he will take steps to speed up the delivery service?

Mr. LEES-SMITH

Air letters posted in India on 6th and 19th December would be included in the air mails which left Karachi on 10th and 24th December respectively. These mails were delayed en route by bad weather conditions and did not reach London until the evening of 19th December and the morning of 2nd January respectively. These appears, therefore, to have been no delay between the time of arrival of the mails and the time of delivery.
