HC Deb 02 December 1930 vol 245 c2019W
Mr. MARKHAM

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department if he can give any reason why Great Britain has lost orders for foreign warship building during the last 12 months?

Mr. W. R. SMITH

I am informed that orders for certain warships have been placed privately with foreign builders during this period, owing primarily, it is understood, to considerations of price.
