HC Deb 02 December 1930 vol 245 c2019W
Mr. WHITE

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department if the trade mission to South America representing the Sheffield cutlery trade was initiated by his Department; and, if so, at what cost to the Treasury?

Mr. W. R. SMITH

The investigation was initiated by my Department after consultation with the Overseas Trade Development Council and with Lord D'Abernon and members of his Mission. It is anticipated that the cost to the Treasury will not exceed £750; the remainder of the expenditure, which considerably exceeds that amount, is being met from private sources.
