HC Deb 02 December 1930 vol 245 cc2019-20W
Mr. LOUIS SMITH

asked the Minister of Health the price of Belgian bricks as compared with English bricks of equivalent manufacture?

Mr. GREENWOOD

The price of bricks in England and Wales varies in different areas, and materials for such a comparison as the hon. Member desires are not available. I am informed, however, that the import of Belgian bricks in October amounted to 14,244,000, the c.i.f. value of which was £34,307, an average of £2 8s. per 1,000. The price quoted in the current number of "The Builder" for Flettons at King's Cross is £2 12s. 3d. per 1,000. Belgian bricks are, however, commonly smaller than Flettons.
