HC Deb 15 April 1930 vol 237 c2761W
Mr. OLDFIELD

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he has yet reconsidered the recent reductions in ration allowance to non-commissioned officers and men proceeding on leave?

Mr. MARKHAM

asked the Secretary of State for War whether, in view of the representations that have been made to him, he has any announcements to make on the subject of the recent reduction in the ration allowance of other ranks in His Majesty's Army?

Mr. SHAW

I have been in communication with my hon. Friend the Member for Essex South-East (Mr. Oldfield), explaining to him the reasons for the recent change, and I have sent my hon. Friend the Member for Chatham (Mr. Markham) a copy of my letter. I have not yet reached any final decision in the matter.

Captain W. G. HALL

asked the Secretary of State for War whether and when the ration allowance of the men in the Portsmouth area proceeding on leave is to be increased?

Mr. SHAW

I am not sure to what my hon. Friend refers. The ration allowance in the Portsmouth area is the same as that in the rest of the country.
