HC Deb 15 April 1930 vol 237 cc2760-1W
Dr. HASTINGS

asked the Secretary of State for War the number of boys under 18 who enlisted in combatant units of the Army during 1929; and how many of these were discharged from the Service after their correct ages were discovered?

Mr. SHAW

If, as I understand, my hon. Friend is referring to parsons less than 18 years old who enlisted as men by misstating their age, no figures are available as regards the first part of the question. As regards the second part, 557 soldiers were discharged during 1929 for having made a misstatement as to age on enlistment.
