HC Deb 31 October 1929 vol 231 c343W
Sir N. GRATTAN-DOYLE

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to the extensive dumping of refuse by local authorities in country districts adjacent to London; whether he is aware of the complaints of those who live in the neighbourhood of these dumps; whether, in addition to discomfort, he has evidence of their encouragement of disease and illness; and whether he will take steps to compel local authorities to dispose of their refuse by other than this method?

Mr. GREENWOOD

The answer to the first two parts of the question is in the affirmative. As regards the third part, I have no positive evidence on the point. On the fourth part and on the question generally I would refer the hon. Member to the reply to the question asked by the hon. Member for Wycombe (Sir A. Knox) on the 4th July last.
