HC Deb 12 November 1929 vol 231 cc1746-7W
Dr. MORGAN

asked the Minister of Labour whether she is aware that unemployed residents in Paddington have to report at the Employment Exchange at Marylebone; and whether she will consider the advisability of securing accommodation for an Employment Exchange in the borough of Paddington as soon as possible?

Miss BONDFIELD

The position of the Edgware Road (Marylebone) Exchange which is situated within a few hundred yards of the boundary of the Borough of Paddington was decided, having regard to the general distribution of insured population in the areas concerned. I am of course anxious that no unnecessary inconvenience should be inflicted on applicants but I do not feel that there is at the moment a case for the opening of a new Exchange as suggested.
