HC Deb 09 December 1929 vol 233 c46W
Major POLE

asked the Secretary of State for India whether the sum of £375,000 which represents the estimated cost of subsidies for the operation of trans-India air-mail services during the four years 1929–30 to 1932–33 includes provision for the contemplated extension of the air-mail service not only to Delhi but from Delhi to Calcutta; and if he will inform the House as to when it is hoped that this extension to Calcutta may be in operation?

Mr. BENN

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As regards the second part, I am not in a position to make any statement until I have heard from the Government of India the result of the negotiations now in progress, as to which the Government of India hope to be able to make an annuncement shortly.
