HC Deb 13 November 1928 vol 222 c704W
Mr. BRIANT

asked the Minister of Transport if he has received any complaints of injuries or accidents caused by the emission of sparks or coarse atoms from the smoke stacks of steam lorries and tractors; and if there are any regulations governing the control of these vehicles as regards screens for smoke stacks or other preventives of nuisance in the direction indicated?

Colonel ASHLEY

I have received complaints of the danger attending the emission of sparks from steam vehicles. At the present time I have not the power to prescribe the fitting of spark arresters to all classes of steam vehicles, but when Parliamentary time is available I propose to seek the necessary powers.
