HC Deb 18 November 1927 vol 210 c1292W
Commander BELLAIRS

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in view of the fact that an amalgamation of the Great Western and Southern railways would bring their capital and length of tracks more nearly up to that of the other two railways and would lead to better coordination, he will have the suggestion investigated?

Colonel ASHLEY

I should deprecate any disturbance at present in the general scheme for the grouping of the railways that was settled by Parliament so recently as 1921.
