HC Deb 18 November 1927 vol 210 cc1290-1W
Mr. HORE-BELISHA

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty exactly what sums were paid and are still owing to outside contractors in respect of ships built and work done for the Admiralty during the years 1925 and 1926, and under what heads in the Navy Estimates each of these items is shown?

Lieut.-Colonel HEADLAM

I understand that what the hon. Member wishes to know is the contract value of orders placed for ships during the years referred to.

The information is as follows:

Financial Year. Hulls. Main and Auxiliary Machinery.
£ £
1925 1,534,471 1,712,069
1926 3,697,385 2,634,261

The provision for the cost of hulls is made in the Navy Estimates under Vote 8/111/C. and for machinery under Vote 8/111/A.
