HC Deb 14 November 1927 vol 210 c639W
Mr. T. THOMSON

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether his attention has been drawn to the large number of sentences of imprisonment inflicted on slave traders in Abyssinia; and whether he is in a position to give an assurance that no British subjects were in any way involved in this slave traffic either as traders or as victims?

Sir A. CHAMBERLAIN

The Abyssinian Government has furnished to the League of Nations lists of persons punished during the last few years for offences against the Slavery Edict in Abyssinia. So far as I am aware, no British subjects were concerned in any of the cases in question.
