HC Deb 09 November 1926 vol 199 c910W
Mr. CAMPBELL

asked the Postmaster-General whether copies of telegrams are kept by the Post Office authorities, and, if so, for what length of time; and whether, in the case of Police Court proceedings, any facilities are given for the tracing of telegrams?

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

The original forms of telegrams are retained by the Post Office for periods varying from three months in the case of inland telegrams to 15 months in the case of radiotelegrams. Inspection of telegrams is permitted to the senders or the addressees or by authority of one or other of those persons; and telegrams are produced in Court on service of subpœna.
