HC Deb 09 November 1926 vol 199 cc907-8W
Colonel DAY

asked the Minister of Health, whether, in order to provide adequate security against irregularities that may arise in the payment of workmen's wages by local authorities, he will

consider the necessity of officers paying such wages entering into a security bond to the amount of money likely to be handled by them during the course of their employment?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

As I informed the hon. Member in reply to a question on the 23rd November last, there is statutory requirement for the giving of security by officers in the case of all the principal classes of local authorities. I may add that it is the practice of a district auditor to draw attention to cases where adequate security is not given by officers whose accounts are subject to his audit.
