HC Deb 09 February 1926 vol 191 cc870-1W
Mr. J. BAKER

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he received a deputation from the association representing the clerical employés in the War Office out-stations, as promised by the Financial Secretary to the War Office in this House on the 15th December, 1925 and, if so, whether the discussions resulted in an agreement being reached on the points at issue?

Sir L. WORTHINGTON-EVANS

A deputation from the Civil Service Clerical Association waited on me on 23rd December. As, however, the leader of the deputation had published in the organ of the association over his own name an accusation of lying against a permanent official of the War Office, I declined to discuss with him the subject of their visit until the charge, which I am satisfied is unfounded, should be withdrawn. This has not been done, and I am therefore not willing to receive the author of the charge. I shall be glad to discuss with other representatives of the out-stations clerks any points they may desire to bring to my notice.
