HC Deb 09 February 1926 vol 191 c870W
Viscountess ASTOR

asked the Vice-Chamberlain of the Household as representing the Lord President of the Council, whether the offices and laboratories of the Building Research Board under the Department of Scientific Research have yet been completely moved to Watford; what has been the total cost of acquiring the new premises and removal from Acton; and whether this year facilities will be given to private firms to obtain the advice of Government experts?

Lord E. PERCY

I have been asked to reply to this question. With the exception of the engineering test shop and the furnace rooms, the removal of the Building Research Station of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research from Acton to Watford is practically complete. The final transfer from Acton will, it is anticipated, be effected during the early part of next month. The estimated total cost of acquiring the new premises and removal from Acton is £21,770. The station is now prepared to undertake special investigations for private bodies or persons under conditions of which a copy will be supplied on application to the Director of Building Research.
