HC Deb 14 December 1926 vol 200 c2782W
Mr. W. BAKER

asked the Minister of Health whether the Ministry's Inspector accurately represented the considered policy of His Majesty's Government when he recently publicly informed the Cirencester Guardians that the vagrancy question would not be dealt with on a national basis?

Mr. N. CHAMBERLAIN

I understand that the statement to which the hon. Member refers was a statement that the treatment of tramps as a national matter was outside practical politics at the present time. The statement did not represent any statement of policy.
